Important report published by the CNRS

The Synthesis of the Collective Scientific Expertise on Rare Earths has been made public.

This CNRS initiative, aimed at establishing the state of scientific knowledge on the use of rare earths throughout their entire life cycle, was carried out by a multidisciplinary group of around thirty scientists, including members of the CenTRA association.

Three approches were examined:

  • reducing their use through substitution in materials or through more frugal consumption of products containing them;
  • recycling them by exploiting the “urban mine”;
  • extracting them differently, using more sustainable methods and alternative sources of supply.

This assessment is poised to provide robust scientific foundations to inform public debate and decision-making.

Elections & Journées de l’association CenTRA

This year, the Board of Directors of the association will be renewed, for a three-year term of office. To apply, please submit a CV and a short statement to CenTRA, before May 7, 2025. Elections will close on June 8, 2025.

The next scientific meeting of the association will take place on June 11–12 in Lille, France, with four plenary lectures scheduled. Do not miss this opportunity to showcase your work on f elements and connect with the community! On this occasion, the 8 members of the new board of directors will be announced.
